Places to focus on in Prayer:
Denmark – where there were riots with violence and arson between pro- and anti-immigrant groups.
People to focus on in Prayer:
The three Red Cross workers abducted in Syria five years ago by Isis and not heard of since.
We hold before God all who have asked for our prayers –
and those whose names are on the “Prayer Tree” in Algitha Road.
We pray for:
Those of our members who are responsible for dealing with the Church Finance and whose work is often taken for granted.
Remember loved ones who have died and pray for those who grieve..
The Lectionary readings for this week are
Luke 24:1-12. Acts 10:34-43.
Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24. Isaiah 65:17-25.
“You know about Jesus of Nazareth and how God poured out on him the Holy Spirit and power. He went everywhere, doing good and healing all who were under the power of the Devil, for God was with him. We are witnesses of everything that he did in the land of Israel and in Jerusalem. Then they put him to death by nailing him to a cross. But God raised him from death three days later and caused him to appear, not to everyone, but only to the witnesses that God had already chosen, that is, to us who ate and drank with him after he rose from death. And he commanded us to preach the Gospel to the people.”
A Prayer by William Bright (1824-1901).
O Lord, who by triumphing over the power of darkness, didst prepare our place in the New Jerusalem, grant us who have this day given thanks for thy resurrection to praise thee in that city whereof thou art the light, where with the Father and the Holy Spirit thou liveth and reigneth, world without end. Amen.
