For Prayer during the week.
Places to focus on in Prayer:
Japan – where people have been killed and communities wrecked by Typhoon Hagibis.
People to focus on in Prayer:
Russian protesters, both government and opposition, who have been arrested for ‘protesting’.
We hold before God all who have asked for our prayers –
and those whose names are on the “Prayer Tree” in Algitha Road.
We pray for:
The man, or men, who are going to help the Stewards.
Remember loved ones who have died and pray for those who grieve.
The Lectionary readings for this week are
Luke 18:1-8. 2 Timothy 3:14-4:5.
Psalm 119:97-104. Jeremiah 31:27-34.
As for you, continue in the truths that you were taught and firmly believe. You know who your teachers were, and you remember that ever since you were a child, you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living.
From the Church of Ireland, Book of Common Prayer.
O Lord Jesu Christ, who as a child didst learn and grow in wisdom; grant me so to learn thy holy Word, that I may walk in thy ways and daily grow more like unto thee; who are my Saviour and my Lord.
