Places to focus on in Prayer:
South India – where people are dying from the Nipah virus for which there is no vaccine.

People to focus on in Prayer:
The families of the five people who have been killed in Sri Lanka by unprecedented  rain, lightning and landslides, with more to come.

We hold before God all who have asked for our prayers
and all those whose names are on the “Remembrance Tree” in Algitha Road.

We pray for:
All those who work with children, giving them spiritual values.

Remember loved ones who have died and pray for those who grieve.

The Lectionary readings are –
John 3:1-17. Romans 8:12-17.
Psalm 29. Isaiah 6:1-8.

God Calls for a Prophet.
“There is no hope for me! I am doomed because every word that passes my lips is sinful, and I live among a people whose every word is sinful. And yet, with my own eyes, I have seen the King, the Lord Almighty!” Then one of the creatures flew down to me, carrying a burning coal that he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with the burning coal and said, “This has touched your lips , and now your guilt is gone, and your sins are forgiven.” Then I heard the Lord say, “Whom shall I send? Who will be our messenger?”  I answered , “I will go! Send me!”

A Prayer from the Church of South India.
O Lord you have called us to be your witnesses to all. Have mercy on us who have known your will but failed to do it. Cleanse us from unbelief and sloth and fill us with hope and zeal, that we may do your will and bear your cross and bide your time and see your glory, who with the Father and the Holy Spirit are one God world without end.               Amen.
