Prayers

Places to focus on in Prayer:
Mali – where ethnic Dogon and Fulani tribes-people insist on killing each other.

People to focus on in Prayer:
The UN Workers in Turkey who might well have to house up to two million refugees from Syria, but with insufficient funds.

We hold before God all who have asked for our prayers –
and those whose names are on the “Prayer Tree” in Algitha Road.

We pray for:
Those of us who are affected by mental and physical senility –
or is it just me?

Remember loved ones who have died and pray for those who grieve.

The Lectionary readings for this week are
  Luke 7:36-8:3. Galatians  2:15-21.
   Psalm 5:1-8. 1 Kings 21:1-10 (11-14)15-21a.

A Prayer for guidance.
I pray to you O Lord; you hear my voice in the morning; at sunrise I offer my prayer and wait for your answer. You are not a God who is pleased with wrongdoing; you allow no evil in your presence. You cannot stand the sight of proud men; you hate all wicked people. Because of your great love I can come into your house; I can worship in your holy temple and bow down to you in reverence. Lead me to do your will; make your way plain for me to follow.

A Prayer by St Teresa of Avila (1515-1582).
Lord, I am yours, I was born for you; what is your will for me ?
Let me be rich or beggared, exulting or lamenting, comforted or lonely;
since I am yours, yours only, what is your will for me ?
Amen.
