Places to focus on in Prayer:
Hong Kong – where increasing numbers of wild boars are going out of their forest reserves and causing trouble in urban areas.

People to focus on in Prayer:
The friends and families of the 11 killed and 10 wounded by a car bomb detonated by Islamists in Mogadishu.

We hold before God all who have asked for our prayers –
and those whose names are on the “Prayer Tree” in Algitha Road.

We pray for:
Our Circuit Stewards who work hard behind the scenes for the benefit of our church and all its members.
Remember loved ones who have died and pray for those who grieve.

The Lectionary readings for this week are
Luke 5:1-11. 1 Corinthians 15:1-11.
Isaiah 6:1-8 (9-13).

Paul’s Gospel.
Paul writes, “And now I want to remind you, my brothers, of the Good News which I preached to you, which you received, and on which your faith stands firm. That is the gospel, the message that I preached to you. You are saved by the gospel if you hold firmly to it – unless it was for nothing that you believed. I passed on to you what I received, which is of the greatest importance: that Christ died for our sins, as written in the Scriptures; that he was buried and that he was raised to life three days later, as written in the Scriptures.

From a Prayer by Brother Roger of Taizé.
If you were not risen, Lord Christ, to whom would we go to discover a radiance of the face of God?  If you were not risen, we would not find in your presence forgiveness, wellspring of a new beginning. If you were not risen, where would we draw the energy for following you right to the end of our existence, for choosing you again and anew?   Amen.
