For Prayer during the month of August
All people affected by natural disasters – floods, storms, droughts, fires and earth movements.
All people who exercise governmental power over their citizens in so many troubled countries.
All media folk on whom we rely for honest, unbiased information on our fellows.
All misguided people who think that they can impose their will by terrorist or violent acts.
All people adversely affected by the greed, carelessness or violence of others.
All people known, or unknown, to us who suffer physical, mental or spiritual trouble.
All people known, or unknown, to us who mourn the passing of a loved one, be it through old age
or sickness, in natural disasters, or by human error at sea, in the air, on the rails or on the roads.
The Lectionary readings for August are –
From “Prayers for use in Schools” (1928).
Almighty God, whom to know is life eternal, and to serve is perfect freedom: grant us so to know Thy Son Jesus Christ that we may find in Him the way that leads to life, and the truth that make us free. Amen.
